That is the song that has been going through my head all morning, so it is now the title of today's post! Oh, in case you're wondering, it is the version sung by this hot new group called The Muppets! I think they have a real future! :) This past weekend has been filled with preparing Christmas cards and wrapping gifts, while my husband parked it on the couch for some serious football viewing. I don't even have to check the score to see how the Patriots are doing during a game, because I can tell if they are winning by the noises Tom makes. If they are winning, I get to enjoy the boisterous cries of: "TOUCHDOWN!", "YES!" "GO GO GO!!" (this one usually precedes "touchdown"), "INTERCEPTION!" or "GET HIM GET HIM GET HIM!". If they are losing, the sounds are reduced to groans. I fully understand the term "football widow", that is for sure!
Today has consisted of a trip to the post office to mail the above-mentioned Christmas cards, followed by some serious pretzel-dipping! My yearly tradition is to make a big-ass batch of choc-covered pretzels to give out as gifts. Sounds simple, but it has proven to be a very popular gift in my family, and I have been informed that I will be shunned by said family if I were to ever forget to make them! Later, I will go shopping for a gift for an unknown 7-year old boy, whose wish list I selected from a local giving tree. I can't stand the thought of a child receiving nothing for Christmas. I don't have the budget to help all the kids, but at least I can help one. I am thinking of buying some cat and dog food to donate to the local humane society. However, I am afraid that when I go to drop the food off, I will come home with a dog or two! Sooooo tempting! Did I mention that I want a dog?????
Wow, this is a boring post, huh? My mind is just preoccupied with holiday preparations these days, I suppose. That, and the fact that I have an uncle who is very sick with cancer. Last year at this time, my grandfather was losing his battle with the big C and this year it is trying to claim yet another beloved relative! That's all I really all I want to say on that right now. In fact, I will end this dull post and get back to the pretzels and Christmas music!

Lisa, what is up with the title of your blog? I am glad you asked that question, dear reader. The answer lies within my profile pic, a flashback to my 9 or 10-year old self. It was the late '70's, and my favorite TV show featured an Amazon Princess played by Ms. Lynda Carter. She was it, my idol, and looking back, not too shabby a role model to look up to in the Barbie Dream House era. My Dad jokingly dubbed her, "Wonder Boobies", which the young Me found very offensive. To me, she was more than just a skimpy costume. She represented independence, strength and power. And, she had that sweet invisible airplane! :) Of course, with the plane I always wondered if she really thought she was invisible, because we could always see her sitting in mid-air. Kind of defeats the purpose of the invisible plane, am I right?
As for my WW costume, well, that was custom-made for me by the incredible woman that my Dad was dating at the time. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, and wanted to wear it all the time! I was a bit pissed off that I had to wear red tights with it, however, because it didn't feel "authentic" to me! The woman who made my costume took me to a fabric store 45 minutes from our house, and let me help select the shiny gold fabric for the eagle on the costume and the tiara, and the shiny silver fabric for the stars and "silver" bracelets. That was a big deal, because at that time, not alot of attention was given to me by my parents, so for this woman to care enough to go to all this trouble to make something special for ME? Well, let's just say it is a treasured memory and leave it at that. I don't know what ever happened to that costume, and this photo is all I have left of it, but the memory is as vivid now as it ever was. And that, dear friends, is why I still have a Wonder Woman doll on a shelf (in the box, I don't actually play with it!) in my craft room, and why the title of my blog is devoted to that Amazon Princess that I will never be.....

In the Beginning....
To anyone who may be reading this, welcome to my blog! I am a total newbie to the world of blogging, so I am figuring it out as I go. That is such a funny word: blog. Blog, blog, blog. There, I have gotten it out of my system so we can move on. Why did I start this blog? Oh, I am so glad you asked that question! Mostly for my own amusement, but also for therapeutic reasons. If anyone else gets anything positive out of it, then that is "gravy" as far as I am concerned. (mmm...gravy....)
So, please allow me to introduce myself (am I the only one singing "I'm a man of wealth and taste..."? after that?). My name is Lisa, as you already know, and I reside in Maine with my husband, my 9-year old son and 2 spoiled cats. I really would love to add a dog to the mix, but my husband has issues with dogs that I don't understand, so for now, we are dogless. I am 42 years old, but at times still feel like a teen! I love rock and roll (so put another dime in the jukebox, baby!), New wave and other types of music. I like going to the movies, watching stand-up comedy, scrapbooking, making jewelry (when I am in the mood to make it!), road trips, Pepsi (though I have to settle for diet pepsi, due to diabetes), watching documentaries (seriously, I will watch a doc on almost anything!), reading magazines, watching "True Blood", "Dexter" and "The Office", and many other "likes" I will save for later. Hey, don't want to give it all away on the "first date", right? I am not some blog hussy!! :)
Some of my future posts will be silly, some will be serious and some will defy definition, I am sure. On that note, I will sign off this first post. I think it went well, didn't you? Take care for now and thanks for reading!
