Okay, I said I wasn't going to get up early and watch the Royal wedding this morning, and I didn't. However, when I did wake up at 7:00 a.m., I made the mistake of turning on the Today show. "Just to get a quick peek at the wedding gown.", I told myself, as William and Kate made their way down the aisle, arm-in-arm, as husband and wife, "then I will turn the channel". Before I knew it, I was misty-eyed and sucked-in to the extravaganza before me. I found myself remembering Charles and Diana's wedding 30 years ago, and feeling a bit sad that Diana could not be here to watch her elder son marry a woman that she would have undoubtedly loved. I couldn't help watching the highlights of the wedding, watching Kate Middleton go from commoner to Princess and enjoying the fairy tale aspect of it all. I'm still not a fanatical Royal watcher, but for half an hour or so, I sure did enjoy the spectacle. Now, I am back to my normal, who-cares-about-the-Royals self! I wish them well, but I have other, more important things to focus on.

Like, song of the day! We all know how very important that is, now don't we? LOL! How about, in honor of today's festivities, we pick "White Wedding" by Billy Idol? I know, the lyrics don't really pertain to Will and Kate, but who cares? It's a great song! Oh, and it can be found on this classic Billy Idol album:or, it can be found on this 12" vinyl single (which I used to have): So, go on, tease your hair up as high as you can get it, put on some neon green and get your 80's on!!!

On that note, I have to get back to reality and make my family some dinner. They have this weird habit of eating dinner EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! Can you believe them? Take care!

Must-See TV

Tonight, we say good-bye to the character of Michael Scott on "The Office". The Royal wedding has been all over the television and internet all week, but to me, Steve Carell's final episode of "The Office" is the real required viewing! I can't even tell you how much I adore this show and the bizarre cast of characters who inhabit it, especially Michael Scott. That is because this show makes me laugh out loud like very few other current shows. Some have grumbled "it's not as good as the UK version", or "that show 'jumped the shark' long ago", but they cannot sway my devotion to the staff of Dunder Mifflin in that little industrial park in Scranton. I will miss Regional Manager Michael, who put the "Dunder" in Dunder Mifflin with his inappropriate comments and questionable decision-making skills, for behind it all, he was full of heart and a child-like innocense that made him lovable. I always liked the episodes where Michael would go out on sales calls, because those eps showed that there was a shrewd businessman inside that idiotic exterior! But, I liked the goofy Michael even more, whether he was crank-calling Ryan to do his awful impressions ("Hi, this is Michael Jackson!" Okay, he does it funnier!!), singing "Stayin' Alive" with Andy and Dwight during a CPR demonstration or yelling "CONFERENCE ROOM! FIVE MINUTES!" at every opportunity. Sure, I will still watch the show sans Michael, as I love the ensemble characters, and I know that in fantasy land, Michael will be living nerdily-ever-after with his soulmate, Holly Flax, but there will always be something missing. So, all you Royal-watchers can prepare to get up at the crack of dawn to watch the wedding, but I prefer to say farewell to the "World's Best Boss" this evening.

It is with some hesitation that I begin this blog post. Not sure why, but for the past week I have barely looked at my computer, aside from the quick check of the e-mail. I blame a mixture of a kid being home for school vacation (he is back at school this week), fatigue, depression and just a general feeling that I have nothing interesting to say. Nobody is a bigger critic of me than me, which I am really trying hard to overcome. It is a daunting task to undo decades of that little voice in my head that constantly taunts me and tells me I am not good enough, etc, but rest assured, I am in hand to hand combat with that little bastard and I intend to emerge victorious!!! One thing I have learned about myself over the past few years is that I am a hell of a lot stronger than I give myself credit for, and I have a touch of a stubborn streak that I believe will serve me well in this war! (You can't see this, but right now, I am holding my right arm up over my head, as if wielding a sword! Okay, not really....)

So, what else have I been up to? Well, planting and Spring cleaning. I might have mentioned before that I have a couple cardboard boxes set up, that I am filling up with "stuff" to donate to Goodwill. As soon as those babies are full, off they go, and no looking back! This is the time of year when we all realize the clutter is beginning to dominate the house, is it not? When my son is at school, I take a box and a garbage bag into his room and go to town! I can't do this when he is home, because even if he catches me donating or throwing away a toy or item of clothing that he doesn't or can't use any longer, it all-of-a-sudden becomes his favorite thing in the world that he cannot possibly part with! He carries on like it is a life-or-death matter! Sure, I could just go ahead and argue with him that these things are no longer needed and that others need them more, but I have done that ad nauseum, so I have decided that the ole' "pick your battles" route is the way to go in this case. This way, I get rid of clutter, and he has not once missed anything of his I have donated! Win-win!!

As for gardening....well, I am no expert in this area at all. However, I like fresh veggies, so I have decided to give it a try this year. I have started mostly veggies, but a few flowers, too, to pretty up the yard a bit. I'm winging it, here, so the results could be interesting to say the least! I might start posting pix every so often for your amusement!

Okay, without further ado, it is back!!! Song of the Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way I have been sporadically blogging, though, it is more like song of the week lately! Anyhoo, today's song is an 80's flashback by the awesome Cher! The song is called "Perfection", and it is one of my favorite songs of hers. Oh, and it can be found on this album: It is the one that also contains "I Found Someone", "We All Sleep Alone", etc. I used to blow out more pairs of cheap speakers with this song!!! It starts out soft and quiet, then the pounding drums start, which was more than my cheap speakers could handle. Of course, I had the song cranked at the time, which I guess was wrong. No, I will never say loud music is wrong!! What is the matter with me???

On that note, I conclude today's entry. Take care!

New Post Coming Soon!

Yikes! I just realized it has been a week since my last post! Getting my son ready for school now, but will write again later today!

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday, because Devin and I were too busy having fun! We took a short road trip to my hometown and spent a couple of hours with my Dad. Dad had to go to the town cemetary to mark off some gravesites (I think that's what he was doing, I wasn't really paying attention!) and Devin was happy to help him measure and whatever else they did. While they did that, I walked around, looking at gravestones for people I had once known. After that, we met up with my sister and my nieces to see the movie "Hop" (really cute movie) and out for Chinese food afterwards. So much fun! Drove two hours to get home, and immediately fell onto the couch and almost fell asleep! Yet, I was able to stay awake long enough to watch "Glee" before passing out for the night (in my bed, not the couch!) Dev's school vacation week is going really well. I have enjoyed spending this time with him so much. He is such a funny, bright kid and I am amazed at the witty things he will come up with! Can you tell I like my kid a little bit? LOL

Vacation week has me thinking about vacations in general, which is where the song of the day pick comes from. My song for today is "Venus in Overdrive" by Rick Springfield, from his album of the same name. I believe this album was released in 2008 or 2009, but don't quote me on that. How does this song relate to vacations? Well, I will tell you. A year ago, I entered an online contest from Sirius/XM, the prize being a one week "Rick Springfield & Friends Cruise" on Carnival Cruise Lines. As with any contest I enter, I signed up and forgot about it. Imagine my surprise when I got the phone call that said I had won!! We took the cruise in November (the first cruise either Tom or I had ever taken), sailing out of Miami (they paid our airfare for that as well) and sailing to the Bahamas! I am not a fanatical Rick Springfield fan, but he was the first artist I ever saw in concert, when I was about 13, so it was a nostalgia thing. The other people on the cruise.....well, I can safely say that THEY were fanatical, hardcore Rick fans. From some of the conversations I overheard, many of them spent a great deal of time stalking Rick around the ship, and bragging about how many photos they'd had taken with him, etc. In fact, there were two cocktail parties during the week, and when Rick would arrive, you could see a swarm of women forming around him, all grabbing at him and yelling his name. It got so intense that he couldn't stay at these parties long. Tom and I would just stand back on one of the decks, secure in the knowledge that we would never have to experience fame like that! The "& Friends" on the cruise were: Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, who turned out to be one of the nicest people, so gracious and friendly with everyone, Doug Davidson, better known as "Paul" from "The Young and the Restless", who has apparently been Rick's best friend for a long time, Eric Martsolf, an actor from "Days of Our Lives" and some of Rick's childhood friends. We got the chance to have a meet n' greet with each of the stars and have our photo taken, so I got to chat very briefly with each of them. I told Eric Martsolf that I don't watch his show (I told him nicely, not in an insulting way) and he turned his perfect little nose up when I told him that I used to watch "Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns" instead! He was nice, though. Rick was a little formal and not so chatty, which was understandable, since he had a nasty cold that whole week. Doug Davidson was such a sweetheart to everyone, and so damn funny! I was kind of proud that I was able to make him laugh at my meet n' greet moment with him. I'd watched him on TV since I was a kid, so it was nice to see how down-to-earth he was and how he genuinely likes people. The cruise offered so much more than star-watching, though. At each of the 3 ports we stopped at, there were gorgeous beaches, even more gorgeous weather and some fun shopping as well. Half-Moon Cay is a private island owned by Carnival, and I still daydream about that place on cold, dreary days! I took some small, glass jars with me on the trip, and I have sand from each beach we stopped at on a shelf in my craft room. The Half Moon Cay sand is the whitest and softest. The water on that beach felt like bathwater when I went swimming in it. Tom actually forgot his swim trunks, so he watched from a beach chair as I swam with some people I met. I can't tell you how peaceful I felt on that beach, but I would love to feel that again. Okay, back to the song of the day.....there were several concerts onboard the ship that week, and since rock concerts are my favorite thing every, I went to all of them. The first time I ever heard "Venus in Overdrive" was at these shows, and I really liked that song instantly. A good album overall.

Well, time to kick Devin off the videogames! Until next time.....

A Brief Hiatus.....

I just noticed that I haven't posted since last Wednesday. I'm so sorry, Kath, I know you can't get through the day without one of my song pics, ha ha! Since it has been a few days, I will get right to the song of the day. Friday, itunes released a second single from Lady Gaga's new album, and the song is titled "Judas". That, my friends, is my pick of the day. The single is, of course, from the album titled "Born this Way"  which is due to be released in late May. Guess who will be buying this the day it comes out? ME! I think she is so great and so talented. She and I don't share the same fashion sense, but I respect her for being who she is and dressing however the hell she wants. Still, I think the meat dress was all kinds of wrong! But, I am sitting here in jeans and a t-shirt, so I am no fashionista by any means.

In other news, it is the start of my son's Spring break from school. We went grocery shopping this morning, but other than that, I have "enjoyed" a day full of Devin tormenting the cats and me yelling at him to leave the cats alone. I have done 4 loads of laundry so far, just can't get the motivation to fold it yet. Went to Subway for lunch, the girl behind the counter asked me (after I ordered a foot-long sub) if I wanted any other sandwiches, and she looked at me like I was a mean mom when I told her "no, thanks, we are going to share this one"! So, I am starving my child by ONLY giving him a 6-inch turkey sub with cheese and veggies? Wow, that's news to me. I though the sub was a nice change from the stale bread and water I usually feed him!! JUST KIDDING!!! At the moment, I am taking a break to blog and to enjoy my last couple of hours of relative peace before Devin's friend comes over to play. Don't worry, I will make sure the kitties are safe then!

Saturday, I went to the Record Store Day festivities at Newbury Comics and Bull Moose Music. Scored alot of free music, as they had a table full of free CD samplers when we first walked in. They gave Devin a free Ozzy poster, which made him think he'd won the lottery or something! It's really sweet how something so small can make a kid so happy sometimes. Plus, they had used CD's at 30% off, so I got 3 or 4 discs I'd been wanting for less than $10. Gotta love those bargains! Did anyone attend Record Store Day at stores near them? Gotta support those independent stores when we can before they become extinct!

Well, I have to go for now. Talk to ya later!

One More Thing

This morning, when my son's school bus arrived, he gave me a big hug before running onto the bus! Then, before the bus left, he looked out from his window, smiled and waved....and melted his Mom's heart! Guess I don't have full-blown cooties quite yet!!

April showers

I had to wipe my cat's ass yesterday. Do I have your attention? LOL! Yes, it is true. I actually had to wipe my cat's ass!!!! I suppose I can't just say something like that and move on, so here's what happened: afternoon, Devin enjoying his after-school videogame time, me lounging on my bed to watch an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" before starting the evening meal. I was cooking a gourmet meal of Kraft macaroni & cheese with chopped broccoli (Devin LOVES this, especially with hamburger in it as well) so I needed to rest up for that! Anyhoo, as I was lounging and laughing at some dumb thing Raymond said, one of my cats, the male, jumped up onto the bed for attention. As soon as he jumped up, the smell followed him. I knew that smell, and knew it wasn't coming from me, so that left only one answer. The smell was strong, but I was afraid to check out the source. Still, it was on MY BED, so I cautiously lifted up his tail (and we all know how much cats "love" that!) to see what horror awaited me. I was in no way prepared for the mess before me! And, since the thought of the cat washing it off himself, in the way cats wash themselves, truly grossed me out, I ran for the paper towels. This was probably a job for Brawny paper towels, but I didn't have that brand, so they didn't quite cut it. Naturally, this pissed off the cat, so I had to grab him by the scruff of the neck and wipe with the other. Finally, a wet cleaning rag got the job done. I threw out the rag, scrubbed my hands in boiling water and told the cat "no offense, but no eye contact for awhile". As disturbing as it was, I am proud to say...not one scratch on me! No bloodshed, though I could tell he wanted to!!! There, that is the TMI story of the day! Don't worry, I won't make that a regular feature!! LOL

What is a regular feature is the song of the day! Let the fanfare begin!!! Today's song is: "Black Coffee in Bed" by Squeeze, from their album "Sweets From a Stranger". I heard this classic today while out running errands, and had the best time singing along with it!! I saw Squeeze in concert for the second time (first time was in the late '80's) last Summer, when they were touring with Cheap Trick, and they sounded as great as ever! How do I love Squeeze? Let me count the ways! Okay, I won't, but you get the point. Great band, great song. 'Nuff said.

Today, I went to a 'poetry coffeehouse' at my son's school. The kids each got up to read poetry they'd written, then favorite poems by other authors. Their original poetry was so good, and as at any poetry slam, we all snapped our fingers in lieu of applause. The Principal ("remember, there's not only a 'prince' in 'principal, there's a 'pal' in there, too!" name that movie!) came in to read a favorite poem of his, and it was "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost, which was featured in the novel & movie "The Outsiders"! I loved "The Outsiders" when it came out and I loved that poem so much as well.

My baby is growing up!!!!!

I realize I am stating the obvious with the title of this post, but boy, was it apparent this morning!! I've mentioned before that I have a 9-year old son who is presently in the third grade. I know I am biased, but Devin is a smart, funny, sweet kid...who is also very much a boy. This is not a negative statement, just a true one. About this morning....Dev and I were down at the end of our road, waiting for the school bus, as we always do. In Kindergarten through Second grade, when the bus approached, he would always give me a big hug, tell me he loved me and he would ask me to wait on the sidewalk until he got to his seat on the bus so that he could wave to me before the bus took off. What a difference a few months makes! This morning, as has happened the past few weeks, I went to give Devin a hug as the bus approached (please note that the bus was way down the road at this point, so his friends couldn't see us), and he turned his back and stiffened up, mumbling a "loveyou" in reply to my "I love you, Dev, have a good day at school!" Plus, he no longer wants me to wait to wave to him once he is on the bus. Sigh. I didn't get angry or take it personally, as I understand this is all a part of growing up and asserting his independence. I just didn't think we'd hit the "mom is embarrasing" stage quite so soon! At home, without the watchful eyes of his peers, Devin is still an affectionate Mommy's boy who wants me around, so I can live without the public hugs. I do, however, dread the teen years, when I will go from being a mild embarrasment to him to being "lame". When I look ahead to that time, I always think of the character Axl from the Patricia Heaton sitcom "The Middle". Axl is the oldest son, an eye-rolling high-schooler who lays around the house in his underwear yelling "God, Mom!!!!" at the slightest word from his mother!!! Calgon, take me away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's move on to song of the day. It is "Hero Takes a Fall" by the Bangles, from their first album, 1984's "All Over the Place". I was trying to choose between this track and "Goin' Down to Liverpool", also a great song from this album, but ultimately, I went with the former song. I've already mentioned that I am a car-singer. Not a GOOD singer, a car-singer. "Hero Takes a Fall" is a fantastic song to blast and sing along with in the car. I try to only engage in this activity when I am alone in the car, out of consideration for others, but if I am alone, I let it RIP!!! The singing, that is! In the late 80's, I had the pleasure of going to a Bangles concert and sitting in the third row! A co-worker of mine asked me to take her daughter and her daughter's friend to the concert in exchange for gas money and a free ticket. As a Bangles fan, I was happy to do this, but didn't realize how great our seats were until we got there! Those women put on a truly fun show.

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Today has been a day at home with the family. Tom and I got several chores done, and I had the pleasure of listening to Tom and Devin arguing over whose turn it was to play video games. Well, I listened to Devin's side of the disagreement, because Tom is without a voice at the moment. A few days ago, he came down with a cold and laryngitis. Now, if he wants to communicate, he does so with whispers and wild hand gestures, which becomes frustrating for him. Although I feel bad that he is sick, it is a bit frustrating for me, trying to decipher the wild hand gestures. I feel like Timmy trying to decipher Lassie's barks! "Is someone in the well, Lassie?" I started my vegetable seeds indoors this weekend, in a little plastic greenhouse. We have a raised garden bed that gave us some really good cucumbers, zucchini, etc a couple of years ago. I just didn't feel like doing the garden last year, but the idea of free, fresh vegetables is too irresistable to ignore it this year! Thinking of planting some flowers this year as well to spruce up the yard. I'm still a garden "newbie", so the word is still out on whether my thumb is, indeed, green!

Now, song of the day! Today's song is by Lita Ford, and it is called "Gotta Let Go". This track can be found on her second solo album, 1984's "Dancin' on the Edge". For many years, I had this album, until all of my vinyl albums were tragically destroyed in a basement-flooding incident at an apartment we were renting. Lita Ford was originally in the Runaways with Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in the mid-70's, but enjoyed some solo success as well. "Gotta Let Go" is a guitar-driven, hard rock tune that is the opener of a really great album, so check it out if you get the chance!

TGI...Saturday!

I see I missed another day of blogging/song of the day. This time, I simply forgot! They say the mind is the first thing to go, after all!!! Anyway, it is a beautiful Saturday afternoon in my neck o' the woods. We spent the morning running errands and then eating lunch at a five-star restaurant known as the Mall Food Court! It's very exclusive, only everyone can get in! Plus, they didn't mind that Devin brought in his own Happy Meal! I dined on cuisine from Panda Express (LOVE the noodles!!!) and sipped a 2011 Diet Pepsi, which I understand is a very good year for Diet Pepsi. Only the finest for moi, after all! Now, one of the cats and I are hanging out in my craft room...or is that HIDING out?....because Devin has a friend over for the afternoon. They are happily (and LOUDLY!!) playing video games at the moment, saying "dude" alot, and discussing such topics as things that are "lame" (for the record, Justin Bieber and that Rebecca Black song "Friday" fit into that category, as well as video games that are rated E). Plus, I am pretty certain they are inhaling the bag of Double Stuf Oreos I just bought today, but part of me is too scared to go out there to check! LOL! The cat is laying at my feet, and every so often, he will look up at me as if to say "What the hell is going on out there?".  Don't worry, kitty, it will all be over in a couple of hours! Actually, this friend that Devin has over is a pretty nice kid, so all is not too scary! Plus, with his friend here, Dev has someone to discuss videogames with that isn't me! Gotta love that! We went to Newbury comics earlier so Devin could spend the $10 his grandfather sent him for having a great report card (my Dad likes to reward good grades, I have no problem with that), and while there, I picked up a used copy of Sinead O'Conner's CD "I Do Not Want What I haven't Got". Remember that one? I used to have it, but for some reason or other I lost it years ago. I was looking at the song list today, and I had forgotten how much I loved that album! So, you probably think a track off that album is the song of the day, right? Nope!

Today, I have chosen the Blondie classic "Hangin' on the Telephone" from one of my all-time favorite albums, "Parallel Lines" . If I have chosen this song before in the past, I can't remember, so please bear with me! This, of course, is the album where Blondie went a little disco with "Heart of Glass", but this album is so much more than that song. Start to finish, I love every song, especially "Hanging....". From the opening telephone ring to the guitar heavy end, you can't go wrong! Plus, Debbie Harry was one of the coolest chicks in rock,  and is still rockin' in her 60's! One of my old friends recently told me that I "corrupted" her with this album when we were kids, which I took as a compliment!!

Is it Thursday already?

After a couple of rough/busy days, I am back in Bloglandia. Anyone who suffers from depression will relate when I say that some days, even if you are being treated for it, it will kick your ASS! We had a couple of rainy days and some stressful events, which I believe to be the trigger. Tuesday morning I had a doctor's appt (just a physical and a diabetes check-up) and Wednesday morning I had to take Devin to the dentist for his 6-month check-up, and both mornings, as soon as the appts were over and I had dropped my son off at school, I took to the sofa and could barely move. The dark cloud had descended right onto my head and shoulders, and felt like it was literally holding me down. I had used up the days' energy stores being cheerful for Devin as I prepared him for the school days and drove him to his appointents, and felt like there was nothing left. One thing I really try to do on my "blue" days is to shield Devin from it as much as possible. He's not stupid, he knows when things aren't right, but as long as I act like things are, he seems satisfied. I felt so helpless and in such despair as I lay on the couch, just so exhausted. I'm happy to report that yesterday and today, the sun has shone brightly, and with it, my mood has brightened as well. Plus, I had a nice talk with my Mom this morning that made me feel so much better about things. Thanks, Mom, I love you!

For today's song, I wanted to pick something upbeat and reflective of the warm weather that's right around the corner, so I turned to the Lady herself, Gaga!!! When I need to cheer up, I like to have a steady diet of her music, so today's song is called "Summerboy" from her album titled "The Fame" . If you have this album, you know how infectious the beat is on this track. It takes me back to Summer days driftin' away to ah-oh, those summer nights! Oops, wrong song! Well-a, well-a, well-a, UH...tell me more!! This song makes me think of the beach or of road-tripping with the windows down and the stereo volume on high, baby!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!! Excuse me, I got a bit carried away, there, but I'm much better now. Have a great day, everyone!

Song of the Day N' Stuff

Yesterday, I had a girls' afternoon with a very good friend, who lives in another state. (frowny face!) I had such a great time talking and catching up with her, and I realized how overdue a girls' day really was! I think when we get older and start having families of our own, we sometimes forget how important it is to keep up our friendships with our girlfriends. Maybe that's not the way to phrase it, I should say we get so busy that we can't always find the time. Anyway, I wanted to let you know, Kath, how much I enjoyed our visit and how much I appreciate that you made the trip to see me! I actually came home and took a nap after the visit (not because of Kath, but because I haven't been sleeping well at night!), so there was no song of the day post yesterday.

Today, however, is a different story. Todays song is: "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" by David Bowie, from his "Scary Monsters" album: I don't have any stories to go with this song choice. Well, actually I do have a little bit of useless trivia, but not really related to this song. I got to see David Bowie in concert about 20 years ago when he was fronting the band Tin Machine. The show was in a nightclub, as Tin Machine was a new band (and a short-lived one), so my friend, Shannon, and I made our way up to the front of the stage, right in front of Bowie himself. Wish I could say we touched him or that he noticed us, but sadly, that was not to be. Plus, his wife, Iman, was standing back at the soundboard, looking gorgeous, and I am pretty sure she could have kicked our asses if we'd tried anything!!

Here's the pic I couldn't find earlier for that last post

Me at the opening of U2 Rattle & Hum, 1988. Just realized my hair looks really short, but it was back in a ponytail!

The Thaw

Today has been a pretty good day so far. The snow from yesterday's storm is melting and I have spent a nice day with my family. Gotta love days like these, minus the snow! California is starting to look really good after this Winter! That is not to say that I have any plans to go to Cali, because, unfortunately, I do not. Just daydreaming....

I've been posting "song of the day' for about a month now, and I can't believe I haven't chosen a U2 song yet, as they are my favorite band and have been forever!!! I will correct that today with the song "The Refugee" from the "War" album. This album track has always been one of my favorites, but I have to say, I love all the songs on this one. I've been lucky enough to see U2 in concert on three different occasions (2 nights in a row on the "Joshua Tree" tour and then in 2009 at Gillette Stadium), and they never disappoint me. Another fond U2 memory: the weekend the "Rattle and Hum" film hit theaters, my friend, Kath, and I saw it 4 times! Once on Friday night, and I believe 3 times on Saturday. Hey, we were alot younger then, and we got in free each time, as Kath worked at that particular theater! We would have sat through that movie for every showing that week if we didn't have jobs to get back to! I even have photos of us in the lobby, posing with the huge cardboard standups, which I would post here if I knew where they were offhand. Guess I should plan out these blog entries a bit better instead of just winging it each time!

Is it Summer yet?

An April Fool's Day snow day? I pretty much knew it was coming, but still. Devin is loving it. He got to play a video game this morning, and he's been running around the house in his underwear, shooting at me and the cats with Nerf guns! Makes me miss the days when he was little and had a nap every afternoon. My cat, Pepe, is hiding out with me in my craft room, under my chair. He is staring at the door for any signs of Devin. The tell-tale hiss will alert me that the Nerf Kid is near!

I'll get right to song of the day. Today it is "Volcano Girls" by the band Veruca Salt, from their 1997 album "Eight Arms to Hold You". This is a great rock tune, sung my frontwomen Nina Gordon and Louise Post. Nina Gordon left Veruca Salt in 2000, but I understand they still tour and record with a new lineup.

gotta run for now, I hear the Nerf battle cry coming from the living room, and I must take cover!
